Dr. Leitner has been in the practice of podiatric medicine and surgery for almost 24 years. His extensive experience and training has provided exceptional care of all foot and ankle problems. Not only his experience but his education, surgical training and post-graduate participations has aided him in providing the standard proven methods of podiatric medicine/surgery, as well as, the new cutting edge treatment options.

Dr. Leitner had completed his undergraduate education at the State University College in Buffalo, New York, where he received a bachelor of arts in biology_ He then went on to complete a post-graduate education at the University of Buffalo, where he successfully accomplished a five year pharmacy degree. After practicing as a pharmacist for two years, Dr. Leitner was accepted and carried out a four year podiatric medical degree (DPM) at the Temple University School Of Podiatric Medicine. He also continued practicing pharmacy while attending podiatry school to help fund his education. He also was involved in two research projects with podiatric journal publications in which he received both gold and bronze William J. Stickel awards.

Upon completing podiatry school, Dr. Leitner fulfilled a specialized podiatric surgical residency at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, New Jersey, where he trained with not only podiatrists, but with vascular, internal medicine and surgical residents from the prestigious Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

After finishing his residency, Dr. Leitner practiced for four years in Bergen County, New Jersey, where he decided that Tampa, Florida would provide a better opportunity for his family and practice. Dr. Leitner started up practice in 1996 in Brandon and Tampa, Florida, where both his practice and reputation has expanded. Dr. Johnson joined the practice. Dr. Leitner has been a standard and participant in the Brandon medical community.

Dr. Leitner was one of the first podiatrists to be involved in caring for serious conditions of the foot and ankle at three local area hospitals. He maintains full podiatric surgical privileges at Brandon Regional Hospital, Memorial Hospital and Florida Hospital, where he regularly receives consultations from other medical physicians for his expertise in foot and ankle problems, most commonly serious diabetic foot infections. Limb salvage and prevention of foot amputations has been an area of special interest and involvement since inception of his practice. In addition, Dr. Leitner is an active staff member at the Bay Area Physician Surgery Center, where he performs a majority of his outpatient surgeries. Dr. Leitner is also an active staff member at the Memorial Hospital Wound and Hyperbaric Medical Center, where he sees patients weekly. Dr. Leitner is also board certified in foot surgery with memberships in ACFAS and APMA/FPMA.

Dr. Leitner has also been a mentor for podiatric, medical and nursing students. Dr. Leitner now maintains a full time practice at one convenient location in Brandon, Florida. He regularly sees patients five to six days a week with available Saturday hours.

Dr. Leitner grew up in New York City with his family, but also lived in Buffalo, New York; Cherry Hill, New Jersey; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and now resides in Tampa Florida with his family for the past 16 years. He enjoys golfing, boating, fishing and regular weight training during his time off” He now considers his practice in Brandon and his home in Tampa to be the best place on earth!
